Unexpected Answers ...Week 6 in Lapeer

A week full of UP'S! Allow me to explain. Monday, we had our prep day and that was an UP and then we had dinner with a member that was an UP and after that we had a lesson with a potential and taught the restoration and that was an UP. So Monday was and UP day.

Tuesday we started off the afternoon by having a lesson with our investigator M and a member came with us. We extended a baptism date and it was well received, so that was and UP. Later, after some finding and getting our car fixed we travelled to a members for dinner. After that we went out with their sons to deliver cookies to some Less active members, so that was and UP.

Next day we had a district meeting and that was an UP. We learned about personal revelation. A quote from Preach My Gospel that stood out to me reads "salvation cannot comwithout revelation" I pondered on this quote and know that it is true. We need to always be seeking personal revelation. We read the Book of Mormon with someone later today and then we had correlation and dinner so that was and UP. Later we did some finding.

Thursday was an UP! We went to the temple this morning with some members who drove us down. It was truly a great experience and refreshing one. Then the members after having taken us to the temple came with us to a visit our investigator M. We had a great lesson as we discussed the Gospel of  Jesus Christ. She informed us that she would not be able to attend church this week as she had a class at 10! the same time as church. We were a little bummed but the lesson was an UP! That evening we had another member dinner and that was an UP. Then some finding to conclude the day.

Weekly Planning was and UP because we got to plan for M! After we concluded I closed with prayer and in that prayed I asked if it was the will of the Lord that her class would be cancelled and she would be able to come to church. That evening we had an opportunity to volunteer at the soup kitchen before we went to a members home for dinner so both of those were UPS. Then some finding. Tonight was transfer calls and I found out that I will be in a trio next transfer. It will be with my same companion, Elder Meyer and another Elder coming into Lapeer with us. So that was and UP.

Saturday was long but it was good. Nothing happened but I didn't collapse so that was and UP.

Sunday, we didn't see our investigator M at church so we continued to our next class, Gospel Principles and a member walked in with our investigator!! She had slipped in and we didn't see her come in, she had been there for sacrament. When we asked her about the class she was like "oh it was cancelled not sure why, so I felt that I should come here" That was a major UP!!!!! I had prayed more then once that her class would be cancelled and it was. It was an unexpected answer and a testimony that the Lord will answer any righteous prayer. Later that day Elder Meyer Skyped home as his parent were out of the country last week. A member brought us dinner as he skyped so that was and UP. Then we drove to a members home for dinner again, that was and UP. The mission is doing this battle of the choir thing with some other Baptist churches. The mission was asked to participate and my companion is in it so we went to practice and that was and UP. The performance is in the middle of June.

MOMMY'S DAY ...Week 5 in Lapeer

To start off the week we went to Port Huron for PDAY. We went to a China buffet for lunch which was awesome to say the least, then we played games as a district and had a great time doing so. It was the first time this transfer that I could play the settlers so that was exiting. That night me and Elder Wood exchanged and we went out to talk to people it was a good night.

Tuesday, the next day the exchange continued. We had a lesson with their investigator and talked about tithing and how it can bless us as we faithfully pay it. I can say that I know tithing is great, though it may be hard, the blessings far out weigh the struggle to pay. Then that evening we came back to Lapeer to contact.

District meeting was Wednesday so we drove to St Clair. Today we helped the other Elders out. The meeting was great and we all learned about accountability. We need to be accountable and it is fun to be accountable to people as well. I would say that its been good so far. Later that night we had correlation and we stopped by an investigator.

Thursday we went out to serve at Habitat for Humanity, It was good. Then we read the Book of Mormon with someone, and then some contacting.

Fridays Weekly Planning was good. As a result of planning we decided to ask and pray for referrals. We are exited to see the results of this. That evening we went to the soup kitchen to volunteer and it was great. That night we went to contact down in another town and talked to people.

Saturday was spent contacting. We tried to set up appointments but no one wanted the truth I guess.

Sunday was the highlight of the week. We got to attend church and then have dinner with a member before I would Skype home. But back to dinner... I had lobster tail for the first time in my life! It was good and the way they made it  was "spicy" but good. I also had steak, it was good too! Then I got to see my family for the first time in a while so that was Amazing. I saw mommy, daddy, and my  brothers, truly the best part of the week! As I close I leave you with this quote.

"Few of us will reach our potential without the nurturing of both the mother who bore us and the mothers who bear with us.”

More Intent ...Week 4 in Lapeer

Starting off the week was great. We played games and then we had some dinner. Later that night we went to contact a referral to help her strengthen her faith in Christ, as that is what she wanted. As we did I felt the need to ask if she had a book of Mormon, she did, missionaries had seen her in the past. I asked if she knew where it was and she had missed placed it so we gave her a brand new one and invited her to read it. She said she would try when she finds time. We had a great visit as we stood in the rain. Then we tried to contact some people on the streets.

Tuesday we saw a less active member who loves the missionaries. We read from the 3rd book of Nephi. For those who know this chapter describes Christ and his ministry to the Americans, this chapter is powerful. I have seen that as I have read and re-read this chapter that my testimony increases in the way that I can say I know that Christ appeared to them and set forth His gospel. For the rest of the day we were out finding.

Wednesday, District Meeting was great. We discussed how we can recognise the spirit more and how we can pray with more intent. So this week each evening I say a prayer of just the things I am grateful for for that day and then I end and then say another prayer and I try to be specific not just a man who is asking for this and that. I have seen that it makes me think more and it helps to pray with "More Intent" and maybe one day before I return home I will pray as Enos did.

The next day we went to Habitat for Humanity and it was pouring rain but it was fun, lots of fun. Then that evening we went to a less actives for dinner and we had Chinese chicken and rice and veggies, it was a dish that I highly recommend for any one to try.

Friday was a day of planning, and then some contacting and study as a companionship. That night an investigator took us out for dinner. It was Cinco De Mayo so we figured all the Mexican restaurants would be packed so we went to a different restaurant called Lucky's Blind fish Grill. I go to order some fish and chips and our investigator was appalled that I would order that, he said 'are you sure!! you didn't see anything else that you might like? Surly there is something better' So I ordered a 12 oz top sirloin steak and he was much happier with me! It was cooked to perfection. Later that night we went to teach a member the restoration. Then bed time! Oh and we ate the carrot cake our investigator got us at the restaurant, it was a big slice.

Saturday we spent the day contacting and finding. People said they were interested but when we asked for their number they would quickly say they don't give that info out so it was a bust.

Sunday there was a broadcast for the North America North East Region. Elder Oaks, Elder Gong, Elder Perkins and Sister Cordon spoke and it was great. Then after church there was a potluck lunch and it was not luck that it was great :)  I had some great bean and chicken tacos, and dessert. Later that afternoon we taught another member the restoration, then had dinner. We had a 50 min nap then some contacting and companionship study.

Today we are headed to port Huron to a Chinese buffet and then to be with the other Elders on pday and then exchanges.

Have a great week,

Donut Burgers and hit 500 days! ...Week 3 in Lapeer

Monday! It was good, we played some board games and were at the apartment most of the day. In the evening we went out a little while to contact, later in the evening we met a Youth Pastor at Tim Horton's. We had a lesson with him or I guess more of a discussion on our faith but hey not all will heed the message.

Tuesday morning we travelled to interviews with president and they went well, lots of good insights. Then we went to Donut Burger and I got a burger with Donuts as bun it was amazing! I was so full after, but it was great. We contacted that afternoon and then had dinner and then cookie spits. We saw a less active who is cool and is ok if we come by again.

Wednesday was district meeting. It was a success. We learned how to make a lesson plan and then teach it better. After that we had a lesson with someone who was taught a while back and when we saw him he said he prayed to know and that his answer was not now so he dropped us. So then we travelled to correlation and had a good visit. One of our lesson fell through tonight but one went through and they asked us to take a break as they are in the process of moving so we are going to do that.

Thursday was our service day at habitat for humanity which was good, After we went to read the Bible with someone, and our next lesson fell through again so more contacting.

Friday for weekly planning we planned...  then we did some finding and comp study. Later we went to the soup kitchen to help out and then taught the restoration to a members family and then some more contacting.

Saturday was crazy. We had a lesson with someone and it was strange, we taught him outside while his garage sale was going on and he would yell to people going by that he was meeting with the Mormons. Then lunch and then we dropped off a book at a home and then contacting till dinner. We had the best Steak Fajitas that I have ever had. They were delicious! After we taught the restoration to another family of the ward, and gave a Bible to a referral then contacted. is my 500th day! At church it was Fast &Testimony meeting and it was good. After we read the Book of Mormon with someone and then we broke our fast with some dinner. Later we went to a family of the ward to teach the restoration, and then contacted and had companion study.

A good week.
